A while back I posted the new Cea Serin official lyric video for the song “The Victim Cult.” Then people started saying that there was a typo here and there. This, of course, made me want to smash my head against a wall. I’m not sure what the hell was wrong with me when I rendered the thing. I mean, I watched the thing over and over again – seeing as how I’m the one that made it. But still, there were two typos. And to make matters worse, the computer that I made it on had a motherboard problem. So after completely rebuilding the computer I was able to finally fix the problems and rerender the video.

Some words on the video and its meaning are below.
I’ve been asked about the meaning of the song so here is the description that will be included in the inside jacket of the album:
“The Victim Cult” was supposed to be on “…where memories combine…” but it didn’t quite fit in. Plus, I never finished it in time. I wanted to write a very strange song that was all over the place: different tempos, time signatures, instrumentation choices, etc. I also wanted to forgo the pre-chorus idea and try having two choruses back to back, flipping them around at the end.
The song deals with the castigation of the creators – those that are able and those that are the doers – by the people content in sitting back in languor, judging and claiming a right to the services from the very people they’ve vilified.
Out of fear, people move to the collective seeking the safety in numbers. The Collective forgives criminals, admires emperors, and will accept anything except the Individual. This song is the struggle between the Individual and the Collective.
An independent individual goes their own way; they do their own thing; they make their own path. They can do this because the Collective does not exist inside them.
Disapproval is terrifying to the Collective and popular opinion is their only means of gauging their own worth. “
Enjoy the video, share it with friends, like it, love it, buy the album when it comes out. Thanks
